Just thought I would show some of the photos I took of the build so far. I know the wiring looks really messy, but it all works! The LEDs in the rear of the ship for lighting the engine flicker thanks to an LED I took from a "candle" I bought at Hobby Lobby. I just attached some regular LEDs to the candle LED and used it as a driver to make the normal LEDs flicker. So far so good...

Very nice that is a lot of wire to cram into that small space...LOL
Have you ever used magnet wire? That is all I use, no stripping wires and easy to get into tight places.

Great look on the torpedo tube Are you going to tint the bulb red?

Actually I have some magnet wire but decided that the thicker wire would be fine. By the time I finished wiring I was wishing I had used the magnet wire! Live and learn. For the torpedo tube I am planning to leave the bulb white and paint the torpedo emitter red and for the deflector ring around that I was going to paint the micro kristal klear red after it dries. Hopefully that will give the correct look.

Yeah it should tint nicely, but I found that if you tint it before you put it in you get a more even glow, when you paint by hand you will tend to have the paint heaver in one spot then another try it out first and see what works out best for you.

So you just put some paint into the Micro Kristal Klear? That's a great idea! Thanks! I will let you know the results when I get to that stage.

Here is a small update. I got in a little practice with the airbrush tonight and am going to try pre-shading with this build. I used some cheap craft paint for this step. I got the idea from one of Starfleet Model Academy's videos. Seems to work prett good!

starting to come together, smart move with the pre-shading that should make the wings pop.

I made a little more progress. I put down the base coat on top of the pre shaded wings and I think they turned out pretty good. I also put the decals on the radiator baffles but after they dried they are barely visible. Because I put them on a dark surface? They actually look a lot better in this photo. All the fiber optics have been attached to LEDs as well. I just need to work on the engine, then I can go together with the two halves of the hull and get on with the painting.

Well, here is a quick update. All of the major assembly is complete and now its time to work on light leaks, seams, and painting. Also, I need to work on the custom base. I decided to display this in a dynamic pose, as if it was in flight or in a battle. I have a long weekend coming up, so I hope to finish it this weekend. If not, it shouldn't be too long after.
